Le Château de la Reine Margot
fut construit sur un tumulus gallo-romain à la fin du XIIIe siècle. Durant les guerres de religion, en septembre 1585, la Reine Margot et son amant, recherchés par les armées du Roi de France se réfugièrent au château. Accueillis par le Seigneur des lieux, celui-ci les hébergea.
Après leur départ, la chambre fut murée et ce n’est qu’en 1990 qu’elle fut par hasard découverte avec tout son mobilier.
En juin 1622, Louis XIII fit étape au château avant de livrer bataille contre les protestants.
Aujourd’hui, ouvert au public, le château vous retrace cette fresque historique dans des pièces décorées d’un mobilier du XVIe et du XVIIe siècle.

The castle of queen Margot
The castle was built on a French/Roman tumulus at the end of the 13th century. During the Hundred Years’ War, the castle was often attacked by the army of the Black Prince, but, thanks to its excellent fortifications, it withstood all attacks. After the defeat at the Battle of Crecy, however, the castle fell into the hands of the Black Prince. There is a legend according to which his treasure was buried somewhere on the castle grounds.
During the religious wars, Queen Margot, wife of king Henry IV, left Paris, accompanied by her two lovers, and travelled to the Castle of Saint-Projet where she was welcomed by the lord of the estate. After their departure from the castle, the Queen’s bedroom was locked and it was as late as 1990 that it was discovered again with all its furniture.
